ABOUT THIS COURSE
The Expanded Driver Awareness Premium Safe Driver program is designed for students 15 1⁄2 and older who value education and are seeking the most in-depth driver’s education available. Going beyond state requirements, this program offers extensive hands-on training and comprehensive support throughout the permit process.
It begins with four hours of intensive, interactive classroom instruction and includes the written permit test, which can be taken at any DriveSafe center. Once the permit is obtained, students fulfill state requirements with six hours of professional behind-the-wheel driving lessons, building foundational skills and real-world road experience. Lessons are divided into three, 2-hour driving sessions across 6 months. These one-on-one private lessons are taught by highly trained, state-certified instructors and focus on the 10 key skills required to be a safe, responsible driver.
Included in the program is the Parent Training Course, a mobile app that provides structured lesson plans, interactive tools, and practical exercises to help parents effectively guide their teen through the permit-holding phase. The modules support skill-building and reinforce safe driving habits during teen’s state-required at-home practice hours.
Students also participate in Safe Car, Safe Driver, an 80-minute interactive clinic designed to improve vehicle safety awareness. This hands-on session covers emergency preparedness, roadside procedures, and safe driving practices through demos like a live tire change, jump-start tutorial, and a full under-the-hood walkthrough.
The experience continues with Defensive Skills Day, where students learn potentially life-saving techniques such as skid control, defensive driving maneuvers, and gain firsthand insight into the dangers of distracted driving in a controlled, simulated environment.
Then utilize your additional 2-hour driving lesson to refresh or fine-tune defensive driving skills, focus on areas for improvement, and increase your chances of passing the driver’s license test.
Finally, when students are ready, they can take their Driver’s License Test at DriveSafe, avoiding the stress and delays of testing at the DMV.
