Practice Drive Test in Boulder

The Practice Drive Test is a great way to determine whether an eligible driver has the skills and ability to pass the Colorado Drivers License Test.

This is a great option for:

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The practice drive test consists of a 20-minute drive that simulates the conditions of an actual Colorado drivers license test. Your driving instructor will ask you to perform a series of driving maneuvers including merging into traffic, right and left turns, stops, lane changes, and more. The instructor will assess your steering technique, vehicle control, and speed management among other skills.

Following the test, your instructor will give you feedback on those driving skills where you have demonstrated mastery, which ones require additional practice, and whether you are prepared to take your license test. The assessment is based solely on what the instructor observes during the Practice Drive Test, and therefore cannot serve as a guarantee that you will pass your license test.

About the Colorado Drivers License Test

The Colorado drivers license test, and test route, is set forth by the state. The license test evaluates over 100 items that measure your skill and knowledge of legal and safe driving practices.

You can take our reputable drivers ed courses or driving lessons with our skilled trainers, to prepare you for what the state driving test will involve. Don’t be afraid to ask your instructor to clarify anything before your test begins.

The skills measured on the drive test will be an assessment of all three of the following categories:

Perceptual:

The ability to perceive characteristics of the many highway traffic environments in a way that permits the safe operation of motor vehicles, e.g. judging gaps or identifying hazards.

Motor:

The ability to manipulate controls in order to maneuver the vehicle, e.g. ability to rotate the steering wheel in relation to the motion of the vehicle and intended path when turning a corner.

Attentional:

The ability to focus and shift attention, e.g. to monitor traffic ahead and the side in a merge.
Your drive test score will be based on how well you perform the following maneuvers:
