Basic Skills Check in Littleton/Lakewood

Basic Skills Check is a great way to determine whether an eligible driver has the skills and ability to pass the Colorado Drivers License Test.

This is a great option for:

ABOUT THIS COURSE

The Basic Skills Check helps evaluate whether a driver has the necessary skills and abilities to drive safely, which can demonstrate their readiness to become a licensed driver in Colorado.

The Basic Skills Check consists of a 20-minute drive where your drive tester will evaluate your skills and ability
to perform safe driving maneuvers.
Your instructor will evaluate your perceptual, motor, and attentional skills as outlined in the Colorado Driver Handbook.

After the evaluation, your drive tester will provide feedback on your strengths, areas needing improvement, and whether additional practice is recommended to better prepare for your official license test

About the Colorado Drivers License Test

The Colorado drivers license test, and test route, is set forth by the state. The license test evaluates over 100 items that measure your skill and knowledge of legal and safe driving practices.

You can take our reputable drivers ed courses or driving lessons with our skilled trainers, to prepare you for what the state driving test will involve. Don’t be afraid to ask your instructor to clarify anything before your test begins.

The skills measured on the drive test will be an assessment of all three of the following categories:

Perceptual:

The ability to perceive characteristics of the many highway traffic environments in a way that permits the safe operation of motor vehicles, e.g. judging gaps or identifying hazards.

Motor:

The ability to manipulate controls in order to maneuver the vehicle, e.g. ability to rotate the steering wheel in relation to the motion of the vehicle and intended path when turning a corner.

Attentional:

The ability to focus and shift attention, e.g. to monitor traffic ahead and the side in a merge.
Your drive test score will be based on how well you perform the following maneuvers:
